Why Spain?
Our partner in Spain has access to some of the most animal dense pieces of property that the country has to offer. While the hunting is outstanding, the history and culture of this country is something that you will be immersed in on a daily basis. This is another location that is extremely safe and is a great place to bring a family to enjoy all that Spain has to offer. The quality of food and the incredible accommodations will exceed everyone's expectations.
Accommodations
The lodging situation in Spain is quite different from the majority of other hunting locations because the locations that these different species inhabit can cover almost the entire country. Our outfitter uses some of the top hotels in the country to house his hunters, where you will be picked up and dropped off after a full day of hunting. Some of these hotels are located inside of thousand year old castles or nestled into the unbelievably scenic Spanish countrysides. Depending on the specifics of your hunting trip, you may be changing living locations multiple times throughout your stay. Your dining experience will be completely customized to your liking. Typically, our outfitter will bring you to a mixture of very high class dining locations and some of the hidden gem restaurants found in the different cities of Spain. The quality of food in this country is second to none and only adds to the cultural experience of this hunting destination. Again, the cuisine on this trip will be tailor made to fit any dietary restrictions or foods you would like to eat. You will be more than satisfied with the food.
The two main airports used to fly in and out of Spain are located in Madrid and Valencia. The airport you use will depend on the species you are hunting.

What You Need to Know
1. Planning Your Trip - Here are a few things you need to get ready before you leave
Visas
If you have a passport from the USA, European countries and several other countries, you do not need a visa to enter Spain
Firearms Permit
If you choose to bring your own weapon, you fill out a form from the Consulate of Spain in the USA. This must be completed a minimum of two months before departure. There are a few different Consulate locations that you could use depending on where you live. The outfitter will help you with this paperwork. You will also need to send a notarized copy of your passport and a valid hunting license from a state within the US. The Consulate will send you a certificate in the mail that will allow you to bring your firearm. You will have to send a copy of this to the outfitter and bring the original certificate with you. I would highly recommend to use a rifle from our outfitter, which does not require any paperwork.
2. Arrival to Spain
After you collect all of your luggage, if you brought your own rifle, it will be taken immediately to the police office at the airport. After this, you will go through customs, meet the outfitter as soon as you finish customs and then go to another police office where they will give you a temporary permit that must stay with the firearm until you leave the country.
3. Hunting in Spain
The terrain where you will be hunting varies greatly with the animals you are chasing. Chamois and ibex are mountain animals, which will require very good footwear, gaiters and possibly rain gear. It is always good practice to get into the best physical shape possible before a hunt like this, which will bring you more opportunities in the mountains. Hunting in Spain is done at a little bit faster pace than in the United States, which is all part of the unique culture that you will be experiencing with any international hunt. Just know that your guides are beyond experienced with hunting these animals, so please listen to your guide.
4. Leaving Spain
Trophy Transportation
At the end of your hunt, you will bring your animals to the taxidermist in Spain to prepare them for export and an importer in the United States will have to be used to get your trophies through customs in the USA. I would recommend having this set up before departure for your trip. Another option is to have your animals mounted in Spain by the experienced taxidermist used by the outfitter, but it will still be necessary to have an importer to get them back home.
Ammunition
It is required that your ammunition is packed separately, so bring a durable plastic or metal box to carry your ammunition. You will also stop at the police station inside the airport to declare you are traveling with a firearm. The police will provide you with a form with your flight and firearm info; one copy will stay in the case, and the other is for you to show at the airline counter. Then you will be able to check in.
Spanish Ibex Grand Slam
Above are the four subspecies required to complete the Spanish Ibex Grand Slam. From top left to bottom right; Gredos Ibex, Beceite Ibex, Southeastern Ibex, Ronda Ibex. This is a very sought after achievement by many hunters who are looking to harvest all four of the ibex subspecies found in Spain. These include the Gredos Ibex, the Beceite Ibex, the Ronda Ibex and the Southeastern Ibex. This difficult feat comes with a very high success rate due to the knowledge and land access that our outfitter has worked for over the years. This hunt will entail a good amount of road miles due to these four species living in completely different mountain ranges, so be prepared to see some pavement as well as four very unique landscapes. Grand Slam Package Pricing
Dependent on the size of each ibex you are harvesting. Starting price is ~25,000€ + Daily Rate + 21% VAT
Gredos Ibex
Due to them having the largest horns and body size, the Gredos Ibex is the most sought after subspecies of Spanish Ibex. The Gredos Ibex is highly managed because of the small area that they inhabit, only being hunt able in three small areas of Spain. When harvesting a Gredos, the guide will make sure that you are taking an animal that is beyond maturity, but is also a perfect trophy in the medal category that you have chosen. These animals live at a high elevation in the summer months, which will require you to be in good physical condition, but will move to lower elevations in the winter months and make them easier to hunt. Glassing these animals is very effective because the vegetation that they live in is relatively the same height as the ibex and allows them to be seen more easily. Expect high animal densities and incredible trophy potential on this hunt.

Beceite Ibex
With a more vertical horn configuration and more tan color on their bodies, this is the second largest subspecies of ibex found in Spain. They are found in lower elevation mountains, but can be more difficult to find because of the dense vegetation that they sometimes call home. During the rut, the oldest and largest animals will be much easier to find as they are with the large groups of females. This is arguably the most difficult of the four subspecies to hunt with a bow. Expect to see very high numbers of animals, but can be more difficult to find an older age class ibex.

Southeastern Ibex
Southeastern Ibex are the second smallest subspecies of the Spanish Ibex. These animals inhabit the Sierra Nevada mountains in the southeast part of Spain very close to the Mediterranean coast. This will be your typical mountain ibex hunt as the animals will be out in the open at dawn and dusk and will move to the thicker cover during the heat of the day. The rut will keep the ibex on their feet for the majority of the day. Southeastern Ibex can be more difficult to judge than the other subspecies, but your experienced guide will be there to judge trophy size and assist with locating animals.

Ronda Ibex
This is the smallest subspecies of the Spanish Ibex, but the horns are impressively large compared to the size of the body. The rut will keep the ibex on their feet for the majority of the day. Ronda Ibex can be more difficult to judge than the other subspecies, but your experienced guide will be there to judge trophy size and assist with locating animals.

Pyrenean Chamois
These small mountain goat-antelope reside in the Pyrenean mountains in the northeast of Spain and southern portions of France. These animals are extremely nimble and spend their summers at high elevations in some very open basins, which make them quite easy to spot. In the late fall and winter months, they drop in elevation and get into some thicker vegetation while they rut, which makes them more difficult to find. This is one of the most pure mountain hunts that you can find. Their senses are very fine tuned and demand that you pay attention to every move when closing the distance.

Cantabrian Chamois
This is the smallest of the chamois species that inhabits the Cantabrian mountain range in the northwest portion of Spain. These mountain antelope are extremely fast and nimble animals that spend their summers at high elevations in some very open basins, which make them quite easy to spot. In the late fall and winter months, they drop in elevation and get into some thicker vegetation while they rut, which makes them more difficult to find. This is one of the most pure mountain hunts that you can find. Their senses are very fine tuned and demand that you pay attention to every move when closing the distance.

Iberian Mouflon
These sheep were introduced to Spain from the Mediterranean island of Corsica many years ago and thought to be ancestors of domestic sheep. But don't let this fool you. These. animals have incredible senses and can be quite difficult to hunt, especially with archery equipment. These sheep almost went extinct in their native range, but can now be found in over 12 different countries around the world. The terrain that you will be hunting is relatively low elevation with small dips and valleys that can be densely wooded and broken up with large boulders. They are typically found in large groups of animals, with many eyes on the lookout. Expect to put eyes on a lot of animals, with excellent trophy potential.

Balearean Boc
The Balearean Boc is somewhat of an unseen species in the big game world, but is special because it counts toward the SCI Capra slam along with the two species of Chamois in this destination. They are located on the Balearean Islands, but the species mainly inhabits the Tramontana Range in Mallorca. These animals were introduced by humans around 2,000 b.c. This hunt provides a great opportunity to bring the family and incorporate a beach vacation during the warm time of the year. This will be a purely spot and stalk hunt and will incorporate glassing and gaining elevation to hunt the area that these goats live. They are short animals with reddish bodies and black hair on top of their backs and faces. Their horns grow sideways in a spiral formation, somewhat similar to the Spanish Ibex species.

Fallow Deer
This is a species of deer that originated in Southeast Asia and have been spread by humans to almost the entire world. There are many free range populations around the world and are very popular to have in high fences as well. The most popular way to hunt these animals is spot and stalk, but calling can also be effective during the rut. Driven hunts are also a very unique and effective way to hunt fallow deer while also experiencing some of the Spanish culture. Expect very high animal numbers and very good trophy potential if you take some time to look at many different animals.

Iberian Red Deer
This species of red deer is native to Spain and was the main food source for the colonization of this country. These are herd based animals that behave very similarly to our North American elk. The best time to hunt for the largest stags is during the rut when the oldest animals leave the dense cover to breed. These animals shed their antlers every year to grow a new set before the breeding season. It is common to use calls, spot and stalk and perform driven hunts to pursue red deer. The terrain can vary from flat, open country, to very steep, dense and high altitude mountains depending on the terrain and trophy potential that you are hoping to hunt. Animal numbers and size depend on the terrain you would like to hunt.

Roe Deer
This species of small deer came to occupy Spain since the end of the Ice Age and have been hunted for food ever since. They live in a wide variety of different terrain types from the lower farm lands to the mountainous hillsides. One thing that these deer love is dense vegetation where they can easily hide because of their small size. It is very common to call these animals with a variety of male, female and young animal sounds to hopefully pull the deer into range. It is very difficult to measure the antlers of these animals by length and points, so many trophy clubs use the weight or total displacement to score these animals. This is a great hunt to experience the European traditions of chasing these animals and to acquire a very unique trophy on top of it all.

Aoudad / Barbary Sheep
This species is a type of sheep native to Northern Africa and were later introduced to several countries with similar habitat. Today, they are endangered in their native range, but are thriving in many places that they were introduced. Spain offers great spot and stalk opportunities to hunt these hardy sheep very close to their native range. These animals typically blend into their surrounding extremely well and will require thorough glassing in order to find them. Barbary Sheep are well known by hunters in the United States for their impressive horns and beautifully long hair on the front of their bodies. This is an excellent hunt to combine with many of the attractions of old Europe that Spain has to offer.

Wild Boar
The Wild Boar's native range covers the entirety of Eurasia from the coast of Portugal to the west coast of Russia. Wild Boars are extremely hardy animals that can live in almost all types of terrain found in Spain. They prefer to stay in thick cover like tall grasses, crops, bushes or thickly wooded areas so that they can stay hidden. Hunting Wild Boar is a cultural tradition in Spain and the rest of Eurasia that has been taking place for thousands of years. These animals are delicious to eat, and even more fun to hunt. Expect to see a lot of animals, especially once you start hiking through the terrain and putting your eyes on all of the little nooks and crannies that these pigs like to hide in.
